Evil, pain and suffering are never far from us. Why does God allow it? Can a loving God allow suffering? Why does God allow suffering? How do we reconcile a caring god, a god of power, with a god who allows evil to happen?
* Tragedies and suffering flood the news. Why?* Evil and pain afflict loved ones, friends and communities. Why does God allow this?* Suffering seems to leave no one untouched.
People ask why God allows pain in their lives – emotional pain, physical suffering, sadness and loss. They say God must not care, or perhaps he is not powerful.
God allows us to be human, to make choices. He cannot allow human freedom without allowing suffering or humans would be puppets. Much of the evil and pain in the world is human evil, humanly-caused pain, the result of human sin.
God allowed Adam and Eve to make choices. Their choice to sin brought suffering and chaos into the whole world. But it’s not over! God’s Word promises that he will create a new heaven and a new earth and there will be “no more mourning or death or pain” because man’s sin will be gone and God will dwell with mankind.
God does not want suffering. God allows mankind to make choices - but sinful choices come under his judgment. He allows evil but judges it, too.
* Free will to love others and God himself is not free if it disallows other options.* Sinful desires bring natural consequences including pain.* Sinful choices carry spiritual consequences - including God’s judgment.
Pain and suffering result from sin in the world – peoples’ own sin. Even though God allows suffering and pain caused by sin, he alone can judge sin justly. God’s Word warns us not to judge others.
Though God allows suffering, he overcomes it.

As seen on C-Span yesterday, the House passed a bill yesterday by a 4-1 ratio which would allow the Justice Department to sue members of OPEC for manipulation of oil prices and for limiting the supply of oil to help increase prices and profits.This legislation, if it passes the Senate, would force OPEC countries including the Saudis, the Iranians and Venezuela to follow the same antitrust laws that the “American” corporations must heed.The bill also requires the Justice Dept to investigate the countries for possible market manipulation and gasoline price gouging.Some of the things that are unacceptable about this proposal followRetaliation - It is a rare occasion when I agree with anything coming out of the White House but the White House opposes the bill, saying that targeting OPEC investment in the United States as a source for damage awards "would likely spur retaliatory action against American interests in those countries and lead to a reduction in oil available to U.S. refiners."The administration said less oil going to refineries would limit available gasoline supplies and raise fuel prices. Duh!Globalism – How do you sue another country without having an overseeing body of some sort? So, for one country to sue another is a step towards globalism since the United Nations or some other such organization is going to have to gain new powers not granted by our Constitution. This is obvious. The last thing we need to be doing now is adding more power to some entity that has more power than our own government.Wrong Target – These criminals in Congress have no shame and they must really believe that noone is watching. They think that they can fool all of the people all of the time? Uh uh! They try to sue OPEC for manipulation and all but what about our “American” automotive and oil corporations (which have Congress in their pockets)? For the last 13 years or so automotive manufacturers have been equipping all new cars with a computer sensor. What’s it there for? It keeps your MPG from reaching above the levels that Big Oil are willing for it to have! This is a fact and you can ask any mechanic worth his grease and he will confirm it for you. The answer to the skyrocketing price of gasoline lies in grassroots activism and new technologies but don’t hold your breath for new technologies to come from corporations. That is working at cross purposes to their religion of the holy profitOne such technology is Water4Gas.WATER4GAS is sharing information for a nominal fee which people can use in their garage or wherever to put together a small device which infuses hydrogen into the fuel/air mixture that their car or truck runs on.What this does is make smaller particles out of the particles that the engine burns as fuel.
